Privacy Policy

Small Steps Math — effective 24 July 2026

Small Steps Math collects no data. None. This page exists because the law requires a privacy policy, not because there is anything to disclose.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and it makes no network connections during use. Our App Store privacy label says “Data Not Collected” because none is.

Where your child’s work lives

Everything the app knows — player profiles, progress, practice history, handwriting ink, and the optional on-device handwriting model — is stored only on your iPad. It is never uploaded anywhere, because there is nowhere to upload it to: we run no servers.

The only ways data ever leaves the iPad

• You share it yourself. Printing or sharing a certificate, or exporting the optional diagnostics file from the parent dashboard, uses the standard iPad share sheet — it goes only where you send it.
• Your own device backups. The app’s data is included in your normal iPad backup (iCloud or computer), under your Apple account and Apple’s privacy terms, like any other app.
• TestFlight betas. If you use a beta build, Apple may send us crash reports and any feedback you choose to submit, under Apple’s TestFlight terms. Crash reports contain no worksheet content or names.
• The Files app on your own iPad. The app’s documents folder — handwriting practice samples, and the diagnostics file if you export one — is visible under Files → On My iPad → Small Steps Math, and over a cable in Finder. That is deliberate, so you can copy your child’s handwriting samples to a computer if you want to. It stays on devices you control, and the app never sends any of it anywhere.

Children’s privacy

The app is used by children, so this matters most: we do not collect personal information from anyone, including children. No behavioral advertising, no tracking, no profiles that leave the device. This is our architecture, not just our policy — the practice loop works fully offline.

Deleting data

Delete a player profile inside the app (all of that child’s progress, handwriting, and personalized model are erased from the iPad), or delete the app itself. There is nothing to delete anywhere else.

Changes

If the app ever gains a feature that touches a network, this policy will be rewritten first and the change will be called out in the App Store release notes. Our standing rule: any such feature triggers a full children’s-privacy (COPPA) review before it ships.
